The new two story police station for Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office 1st District is located in Fat City on Hessmer Ave.  The building is approximately 14,000 square feet and includes an exterior plaza, retail spaces on the 1st floor, and the 1st district sheriff’s squadron on the 2nd floor.  The 2nd floor area will include offices, restrooms, fitness room, roll call, and interview and evidence rooms with a DWI holding area on the 1st floor.  The area will also include a parking area surrounding the new building as well as new sidewalks and landscaping along Hessmer Avenue.

The building is a pile supported concrete foundation with a steel structure.  The exterior of the building includes several complimentary finishes including a glass curtainwall system, aluminum composite panels, metal panels, and brick veneer.  The building was designed by N-Y Associates, Inc. and includes Vivien Engineers as the mechanical/electrical consulting engineers and Mott McDonald as the structural engineers.
